Facial Sugaring in Chicago's West Loop

Fuzz-free, glowing, camera-ready skin.

The basics

What is Facial Sugaring at Sugar Pop?

The short answer

Facial sugaring gently removes fine hair + peach fuzz from the upper lip, chin, sideburns, forehead + full face using warm, all-natural organic sugar paste. Because sugar grips the hair rather than living skin, it's a gentler option for the delicate skin on your face and can pick up even the finest hairs traditional wax may miss.

The skin on your face deserves a little extra care. Sugar is applied warm, never hot, and hair is removed in the direction it grows, helping minimize unnecessary stress on delicate facial skin. It's a simple, skin-conscious way to get soft, smooth results without the harsh pull of traditional wax.

FAQ

Facial Sugaring questions, answered

Yes. Because the paste is all-natural and removes hair without gripping living skin, facial sugaring is gentle enough for the delicate skin around the lip, chin, and cheeks. It's a popular choice for people whose skin reacts to hot wax or depilatory creams.

Often, yes. Sugaring can be a great option for sensitive skin because the sugar adheres to the hair rather than living skin. Your esthetician will always assess your skin first. As long as the area is healthy, with no open wounds, broken skin or active infection, we can typically sugar it safely.

No, that's a myth. Sugaring removes hair from the root, and with regular visits regrowth actually becomes finer and sparser over time. It does not change the color or thickness of your hair the way shaving's blunt edge can appear to.

Temporary redness or small bumps can happen after facial hair removal, especially if your skin is sensitive. Keeping your hands off freshly sugared skin, avoiding heavy or irritating products and following your esthetician's aftercare recommendations can help. If you're particularly breakout-prone, let us know so we can tailor your service + aftercare to your skin.

Keep it simple + gentle. Avoid touching the area, heavy makeup, exfoliating acids, retinoids, excessive heat and anything else that may irritate freshly sugared skin immediately after your service. Your esthetician can recommend when to resume your regular skincare based on your skin + the products you use.

It depends on your individual hair growth, but many clients come in about every 3–4 weeks. Your esthetician can help you find a schedule that works with your growth pattern + skin.

We recommend giving freshly sugared skin a little breathing room before applying makeup, especially heavier complexion products. If you have somewhere to be, talk to your esthetician about your plans so they can recommend the best aftercare for your skin. We recommend holding off for 24–48 hours to let your pores close.

Tell us before your service. Having a skin condition doesn't necessarily mean you can't be sugared, but we won't sugar over skin that is actively irritated, inflamed, broken or compromised. Your esthetician will assess your skin and may modify or postpone the service when needed. If you're experiencing a significant flare or have been advised to avoid hair removal, check with your healthcare provider first.

Let us know at booking. Retinoids, strong AHAs/BHAs, and prescription acne medications can make skin fragile, so we ask you to pause them for at least a week before any face-related sugaring appointment. If you are taking Accutane, you cannot be sugared.

If your skin loves a little extra TLC, absolutely. High Frequency can help calm freshly sugared skin, while our Mask + Ice Globes add-on is especially soothing after facial sugaring. The cooling mask + chilled globes help calm the look of redness, cool the skin + leave your face feeling refreshed. It's basically a little post-sugar chill session for your skin.

Sugaring can remove hormonal facial hair, but it doesn't treat the underlying cause of the hair growth. We regularly work with different facial hair patterns + textures and can help you establish a sugaring schedule that works for your skin and growth cycle.

Absolutely. Facial hair comes in all kinds of textures, densities + growth patterns, and there's nothing to be embarrassed about. Our estheticians will assess your hair + skin and adjust their technique accordingly. If your facial hair is related to PCOS or another hormonal condition, sugaring can manage the hair, but it won't treat the underlying condition.

Just a couple of weeks of growth, about the length of a grain of rice. Facial hair is fine, so even short regrowth sugars beautifully; avoid shaving in between so there's enough for the paste to lift.

Everything is priced à la carte, so book only what you want. Upper lip is $17, chin $19, sideburns $20, forehead $19, and nape of neck $27. A full face, brows excluded, is $56 and is the better value once you're booking three or more areas.

Yes, and it's a popular pairing. Our full-face service deliberately excludes the brows so they can be shaped properly with 8-point brow mapping rather than treated as one more area. Book both together and we'll sequence them so your skin stays comfortable throughout.
